Gmail New Feature: Reply With Selected Text

When creating an e-mail, the default action when you click reply is to include all of the e-mail you’re replying to below your message. This results in incredibly long reply chains and tons of non-relevant information being forwarded along. What if you don’t want to include all of the text, but instead, just the relevant, important parts? Just an important line? A picture? Gmail has improved their web interface to do just that.

This fantastic feature is easy to use. Simply highlight the text you want to be in the reply e-mail, and then click the reply button on Gmail’s interface. You’ll get a reply with just the highlighted information selected.

Here is an example below of before and after versions of a reply to one of Steve’s premium members only e-mails. In the before e-mail, you can see the header, date, and all non-relevant information. My question about when a sale ended wouldn’t make any sense. In the after e-mail, you can see that just the relevant product information I selected is there.
