i-pad like NotPad

Looks exactly like an iPad!, Why let the trifling matter of a few hundred quid prevent you from owning the latest tablet computer? Especially when you can buy this papery replica for a smidgen of the price? iSay!

Google Delivers Nexus 10 10-inch Tablet With AMOLED Screen

Google may have canceled its New York press event due to the impending arrival of Hurricane Sandy, but not the storm - nor even the ghost of Steve Jobs - could stop the inevitable from happening. As expected Google announced the latest in a line of Nexus smartphones, but the bigger news was that the search giant is set to release a larger version of the Nexus tablet that the company had begun selling in July.

The new Nexus 4 smartphone will be made by LG Electronics and features a minor update to Google's Android operating system. The Nexus 4 features 4.7-inch screen, notably larger than the just released iPhone 5, but a bit smaller than rival Samsung's Galaxy S III Android-powered handset. The 16GB version of the Nexus 4 will sell for $199 with a two-year contract from T-Mobile, while a contract-free version will be available for a surprisingly affordable $299 with 8GB of storage or $349 for 16GB.

Writer for iPad 2

With the barnstorming success of the iPad – and now the iPad 2 – it’s clear that people are getting the hang of media on the move. But no matter how responsive that touchscreen might be, it’s sometimes easier and quicker to write those longer emails on an old-school keyboard. But where on earth can you find a bit of kit to do this, without losing all the portability of the iPad? Where indeed.

Instant Digital Camera

Instant photography is making a comeback. And thanks to the Polaroid Z340 it’s better than ever. Delivering a new twist on a classic concept, this amazing camera merges the genius of digital photography with the convenience of instant printing, spewing out quality 3”x4” prints on the fly or storing them via SD card for subsequent USB-ing to computer. With its reassuringly retro styling you’d be forgiven for thinking the Z340 is merely a pimped-up reissue of a classic Polaroid camera. But you’d be wrong because its beautifully blocky chassis is brimming with 21st century tech.

Target Scale

Weighing yourself using old-school bathroom scales can be a depressing experience: stiff dials, inaccurate readings, squeaky mechanism – this is the 21st century for goodness sake. So why not bin that clunky contraption under the sink and step on the astoundingly clever Medisana TargetScale.

iCade Mobile

It’s clear that when it comes to mobile gadgets, touchscreens are the way forward. They’re just so darned versatile! On the same screen, you could be writing an email one minute and playing Guitar Hero the next. But it’s here that you notice a design flaw. When it comes to certain games, there’s just no replacing physical buttons.

iPhone Scanner

It wasn’t that long ago that all photos were taken on 35mm film (or something like it). We know, it sounds like something from the pre-industrial era, but until digital photography came around we didn’t know any better. Ask anyone old enough to remember Airwolf and they’ll probably tell you they own stacks of old photographs, slides and negatives – probably in countless chunky albums or boxes in the loft.

Set MS Excel Default Font

For many of us the font used in our documents, presentations and workbooks is a choice we actively make. When I’m creating something for others to see – which is most of the time – then I want it to look a certain way.

The easiest way to create something that I’ll like is to have my default font set to my preferences, not the preferences of the software makers.

WS App Review: Atomic Web Browser

Have you ever used the web browser built into your iOS device and wished it had more functionality? Atomic Web not only brings some of the needed desktop web browser capabilities, but also improves on some mobile-specific features.

Since you’re reading this review on the web, I’ll assume you’ve got the basics of web browsing down and have used mobile safari (the built in web browser) in iOS. So what is improved by atomic web browser? Let’s start with tabbed browsing.

Can iPad/iPhone and PC Share Dropbox Accounts?

For those who don’t know, Dropbox is a cloud-based file hosting service where you can upload your documents, pictures, videos, music and other files to the cloud to share among devices.

You can sign up for a different Dropbox account if you like, but one of the fantastic features of Dropbox is the ability to share and sync information across devices and have access to files that you wouldn’t normally store on your iPad/iPhone/mobile device.

Forcing an Android Download to Stop

I recently had a Gmail image download lock up on my Android, with the download continuing for nearly an hour, even after the image was safely stored in the download folder. When turning off mobile data and Wi-Fi, doing several restarts, and removing the battery proved ineffectual (although after each restart, it was a couple minutes before the download resumed), I searched the web for an answer. Efforts to find an online solution proved equally fruitless, as they generally applied specifically to app downloads. In addition to the inconvenience, I assumed that–as long as the download persisted–it would also continue to drain the battery.

So, the following steps (in Android 4.0) were taken and the download finally stopped.

Below, you can see the download running.

Bollywood stars caught on camera, unnoticed

Bollywood stars are always very particular about the way they look. Even if they wake up in the middle of the night, they always seem to have the perfect make-up on, with their hair combed neatly. However, like they say, everyday cannot be a perfect day. Our stars were caught on camera unnoticed, putting on their most funny and weird expressions. Though they must have put on their best expressions, it some how turned out to look funny. Off all, I think Aishwarya Rai looked the funniest. Take a look at the rest.

Intense competition between Kareena and Deepika

Kareena Kapoor and Deepika Padukone are considered professional rivals in Bollywood. Whenever Kareena missed an opportunity, Deepika grabbed it. Sanjay Leela Bansali’s ‘Ram Leela’ which initially had Kareena as its leading lady, now has Deepika, as Bansali didn’t want his heroine to be a married woman.

Fabulous Five on the fifth anniversary edition of ‘Vogue’

For the past five years Vogue India has been presenting Bollywood beauties in the best of their style and glamour. As the magazine celebrates its fifth birthday this month, it offers its readers not one or two, but five fabulous and reigning queens of Bollywood in its special anniversary issue.

A peek into the biggest bash of the year: Big B’s 70th birthday celebrations

October 10 this year was probably the biggest and the most powerful birthday bash celebrated in our industry. The entire Bollywood clan turned up to wish the superstar as he turned 70 this Thursday. Amitabh Bachchan’s family rolled out the red carpet for as many as 800 guests at the Reliance Media Work, Film City, Goregaon. The guest list included yesteryear veterans like Hema Malini, Saira Banu, Waheeda Rehman, Vinod Khanna, Prem Chopra, Kader Khan, Pran, Zeenat Aman, Jeetendra, Asha Parekh, Shashi Kumar, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh.

Samsung GALAXY Note 10.1 Tablet Review

Sitting in the audience at last month's product launch for the Samsung GALAXY Note 10.1 in New York was decidedly awkward; just not sure if it was more awkward for the press or for Samsung. What was painfully obvious was that a large majority of the journalists in the room (including your intrepid reporter) were using either an iPad or Mac Book to type up their notes about the launch of the new tablet from the Korean manufacturer. The three gentlemen from the print world sitting directly in front of me were all using third-generation iPads to take notes and pictures. The lady from Britain sitting next to me was typing away furiously on her Mac Book. Was anyone using a real camera to take photographs? Nope. Almost everyone was using an iPhone. There were a few using Samsung's latest Galaxy S III phone, but they were in the minority.

My point? Samsung (and everyone else) has an enormous mountain to climb in the tablet category and it was almost hard not to smirk when Samsung USA President, Tim Baxter, stood before a packed house of jaded journalists and proclaimed the GALAXY Note 10.1 to be a "game changer."

Sidney Crosby? Game changer.

Christopher Nolan? Game changer.

Sophia Loren in a sheer black dress in Cannes. Game over.

Even if Apple didn't currently own nearly 70% per cent of the tablet market, it would be hard to take the "game changer" claim seriously.

Rearranging the Android Favorites Tray

To move an icon on an Android phone, touch and hold the icon, and drag it to a new location. On Android 4.0, this procedure can also make often used icons more accessible by dragging them to the Favorites Tray (located above the Navigation buttons). To reset the Favorites tray, icons can either be moved to make room, or new ones can be stacked with existing icons in the tray (creating a folder).

To move an app from the Favorites Tray, touch and hold the icon and drag it to the home screen (the All Apps icon in the center is permanent, and can’t be moved).

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Review

Ice Cream, You Stream...

Announced at the same time as their extraordinary second-generation seven-inch model, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 followed three weeks later, and it too has been a fascinating device to tinker with. Providing much the same functionality as the 7.0 but now in a larger form factor, the 10.1 is Samsung's latest Android 4.0-powered tablet, taking tremendous advantage of the deep, rich "Ice Cream Sandwich" operating system and its myriad entertainment/productivity prowess. To this the hardware manufacturer has added the custom TouchWIZ interface to further distinguish the user experience with its own special gestures and unique apps.

Based on the placement of the silver logo, this 10.1-inch model seems intended to be a horizontal device specifically, and as such it looks remarkably like a handheld Samsung flatscreen! Indeed, folks familiar with the company's latest Smart TVs will recognize the preloaded Samsung Media Hub to access paid movie/television content, wirelessly, in addition to the premium Game Hub and the extremely inviting Samsung Apps portal, through which an ever-growing array of free content can pass. It also serves as a robust eReader, with support for the vast Google Play Store as well.

This is another zippy 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi tablet, also supporting Wi-Fi Direct which enables connection to other such enabled devices, including printers and displays, without the need to first join a network. Signing up for the requisite complement of Google features was fast and simple, as it was on the seven-inch Tab 2. I was immediately struck by the rich, inviting layout of YouTube on the larger horizontal screen, and I would guess that I spent even more time browsing and viewing videos as a result, which is no doubt part of Google's master plan.

The larger Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1. Not actual size. (Probably. How big is your monitor?)

Android Animation Scale Settings

So, you finally acquired a new Android 4.0 phone? If, like me, this is your maiden voyage into smartphone waters, the possibilities that these devices offer can be dazzling and sometimes bewildering. At Worldstart, we’ll attempt to help you (and me) navigate those occasionally perplexing waterways.

In addition to an extensive list of features, these phones are exceptionally fast. However, some simple tweaks make it possible to speed things up even more. One method is to change the animation settings.

To begin, tap the All Apps icon in the Favorites Tray, and slide to Settings.

iPhone 5 Review

I know, I know, I usually don’t do too much of my own writing for the newsletter anymore, but I just acquired an iPhone 5 and I’m sure there are more than a few folks out there wondering if they should upgrade.

So, just for you, I hiked 10 miles through a blowing snowstorm to the nearest Verizon store, braved the belligerent masses battling for one of the few available phones, and finally wrestled a sales person to the ground and pried the last one from his fingers. A nice 32Gb unit in fact.

Which Bollywood actor looks best with a mustache ?

1. Aamir Khan

Aamir Khan will be seen next in a crime thriller ‘Talaash’. Aamir, who is known for being a perfectionist in Bollywood, will be seen sporting a mustache in the film. Like his new look?

Aiyya Movie Review

Rani Mukherjee said this movie would be one of her best, but long gone are the days when an actor said that their film would be something new, and the film actually turned out to be worth the money. In fact Aiyya will be a huge disappointment for Rani and Anurag Kashyap’s fans. It is hard to believe that Rani, who has won awards for critically acclaimed roles said yes to the film. And what made Anurag Kashyap, who is the producer of the movie, think that a movie that has a female lead going head over heels for a man just because of his odour, would work at the box office?

Chitrangada Singh Hot Pictures & Wallpapers

Born to an Indian Army Officer from Madhya Pradesh, Chitrangada Singh has been a model, an actress and a successful Kathak dancer. The hot heartthrob of Bollywood started off with modelling from Delhi before she turned her attention to the silver screen. Her initial ad projects include that of ICICI Bank and Alukkas Jewellery. It didnt take her long to shift focus from ads to music videos. Gulzar Sahebs Sunset Point marked her first performance in music videos. It was here that she got spotted and landed an accidental break in the film ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’ (2003).

Yami Gautam Hot Photos and Wallpapers

She is the newest face to jump onto the Bollywood brand wagon. From a Fair and Lovely advertisement to a grand Bolly debut under John Abraham Productions, this small town girl has come a long way! Yami autam, who is all set to make her big leap from the small screen to the big screen is all mouth about Vicky Donor and her television stints. The sweet and decently pretty looking face has also signed up another Tamil project titled ‘Hero’ and is on her route to the fame that one reckons her with.

SRK to romance with four heroines in Chennai Express

Though Shah Rukh Khan’s last offering “RA.One” failed to create the expected stir in the nation, but the hero is back again! He is having several back to back projects in Bollywood, all of big banners. And going by the storylines and casting, it seems the films are going to be blockbusters. May be the last year and the first half of this year, belonged to SRK’s arch-rival Salman Khan, however, the King will strike back soon!

Passionate SRK-Katrina in Saans song from JTHJ

The sizzling hot chemistry of the Badshah Khan of Bollywood and Katrina Kaif is evident from the trailers, the songs and the scenes from the upcoming film “Jab Tak Hain Jaan”. The duo is eyeing on getting tagged as the hottest onscreen couple on Bollywood, and as for the YRF film, it is safe to say, audience are waiting with bated breath to see SRK and Kat romance onscreen for the very first time. And we guess, this venture of YRF is going to be a commercial success.
