Tablet/eReader Deals: Buy a NOOK HD+, Get a Free NOOK Simple Touch

Barnes & Noble wants to double your pleasure -- or at least give you double the NOOK devices for the price of one. The company just announced plans to give away a free NOOK Simple Touch to anyone buying the NOOK HD+, for a limited time.

The offer is good from now through March 31, 2013 or whenever B&N runs out of stock.

To get it, you'll have to purchase the NOOK HD+. First announced back in September, the NOOK HD+ is the company's 9-inch tablet, which boasts a personalized experience for every member of the house, via Nook Profiles. That also means that everyone can have access to over three million books, magazines and apps, as well as content from the Nook Video and Nook Catalog services, UltraViolet streaming, and the unit's HDMI output.

Weighing in at just 18.2 ounces, the NOOK HD+ has a 1920-by-1280 resolution, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM, expandable memory, Bluetooth and WiFi support. B&N offers a 16GB version for $269, with 32GB costing $299.

The NOOK Simple Touch was first introduced in late 2011, with an MSRP of $99. It's since gone down to $79, making it a nice freebie. It's also a nice little portable, offering a 6-inch E Ink Pearl display and battery life of up to two months on a single charge. It's really for the reader in your life (or your house), allowing users to pack multiple books into a single portable. Other features allow readers to look up words, highlight passages, adjust font sizes and styles, and more.

"By offering a free NOOK Simple Touch with the purchase of NOOK HD+, customers can fully experience all that the expansive NOOK Store of more than 3 million titles has to offer," said Jamie Iannone, president of digital products at NOOK Media LLC. "NOOK HD+, with its must-see full HD 9-inch screen, is perfect for experiencing movies, apps, magazines and more, while NOOK Simple Touch is ideal for reading millions of books with crisp, clear text on a portable and lightweight device that's comfortable to hold for hours."
