Chevrolet unveils 2014 Silverado High Country and Texas Editions in San Antonio to broaden the lineup


In a move to truly perpetuate the all-new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado’s appeal to lovers of the pickup truck, General Motors and Chevrolet introduced two new unique editions of the full-size truck in San Antonio, Texas earlier this week: the new 2014 Silverado High Country and Silverado Texas Edition. Both trucks have been fitted with unique packaging and options.

The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado High Country is being pitched as a premium pickup truck, riding alongside the top of the line LTZ and Z71 models  in the Silverado’s lineup. A unique grill with even more chrome, halogen projector head beams, color matching front and rear bumpers, and bespoke 20-inch chrome wheels separate the High Country from other models on the outside.

The inside gets and equally luxurious treatment with a bespoke saddle brown interior, heated and cooled seats as standard, High Country logos embroidered into the head rests and much more.


The 2014 Silverado Texas Edition speaks to the heart of The Lone Star State and is a packaging options available on either the Silverado LT or top dog LTZ trim levels. Special 20-inch wheels are equipped to both models, but with different designs while both come with a trailer package, a locking rear differential, and other bespoke exterior appointments.

The base model for the 2014 Silverado High Country is the standard small-block 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 good for 355hp, while the optional 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 is also optional. The standard mill options for the Texas Edition Silverado are either the all-new 4.3L V6 good for 285hp, or the 5.3L V8 good for 355hp.

SAN ANTONIO – The 2014 Silverado High Country will further broaden Chevrolet’s portfolio in the premium pickup segment when it joins the LTZ and Z71 models in the Silverado lineup this fall.

Silverado High Country is distinguished by a unique chrome grille with horizontal chrome bars, halogen projector headlamps and body-color front and rear bumpers. Unique 20-inch chrome wheels with P275/55R20 all-season tires are standard, as are chrome body side moldings, door handles and mirrors.

Inside, Silverado High Country features an exclusive saddle brown interior, with authentic materials throughout. Features include heated and cooled perforated premium leather front bucket seats with High Country logos on the headrests, Chevrolet MyLink connectivity with an 8-inch touch screen, Bose premium audio and front and rear park assist.

“High Country will be the top model in the Silverado lineup, with a higher level of premium features and materials with a rich, Western themed appearance,” said Maria Rohrer, Silverado marketing director. “But at the same time, High Country is 100-percent Chevy truck, with the capability and dependability customers have relied on for more than 95 years.”

Standard engine for the Silverado High Country is the 5.3L EcoTec3 V-8, SAE-certified at 355 horsepower (250 kW), with class-leading V-8 fuel economy of up to 23 mpg highway (2WD models). The all-new 6.2L EcoTec3 V-8 also will be available. Both engines feature direct fuel injection, Active Fuel Management and continuously variable valve timing, proving the refined power and torque truck customers expect. Both seamlessly switch to four-cylinder mode to save fuel during light-load driving.

Because of the high level of standard equipment, Silverado High Country will offer only a few options. In addition to the 6.2L EcoTec3 V-8, they include a chrome rear bumper with CornerStep, integrated trailer brake controller, sunroof, navigation, and a rear-seat entertainment system as well as a High Country Premium Package which includes heated steering wheel, driver alert package, adjustable pedals and integrated trailer brake controller.

SAN ANTONIO – The 2014 Silverado Texas Edition, which recognizes the strong bonds between Texans and their trucks, debuts May 6 as part of the 2014 Silverado media drive in San Antonio and Spring Branch, Texas.

“The Silverado Texas Edition recognizes the fact that one out of every six full-size pickups are sold in Texas,” said Maria Rohrer, Silverado marketing director. “It combines features that add real value for Silverado customers with unique badging that honors the connection between Texans and their trucks.”

The Texas Edition is available either on the midlevel Silverado LT or on the more upscale LTZ. For the LT version, the Texas editions adds 20-inch polished aluminum wheels, a trailering package, locking rear differential, body-color outside mirror caps and door handles, and Texas Edition badges. For LTZ models, the 20-inch wheels, door handles and mirror caps are chrome and a Bose premium audio system is added.

Like all 2014 Silverado 1500 models, the Texas Editions include:
