Dish Network Adds On Demand Access to iPhone and Android App

Sometimes iPad users get all of the goodies. For instance, DISH Network has made the new Hopper Transfers feature exclusive for iPad users. However, the company is sending a little love to Android and iPhone users as well, via its DISH Anywhere app.

Today, DISH Network announced an upgrade to the app that will put access to On Demand programming on Android and Apple iOS devices. The perk was previously an exclusive to iPad users.

Of course, you need to be a DISH Network customer with an appropriate programming package. That basically means that you need to have HBO to access HBO GO from the app. Aside from that, it doesn't matter what kind set-top box you have, whether it's the new Hopper with Sling or one of the older ViP boxes. Now anyone with an iPad, iPhone or Android phone or tablet can access thousands of titles from a variety of networks anywhere with a web connection.

Another new app feature allows subscribers to share mobile viewing experiences through social networking. In other words, you'll be able to interact in real-time on Facebook and Twitter. Users can personalize comments, use hashtags, and tap into other words already populated by the app.

And finally, DISH Anywhere now has a feature that allows users to take advantage of a new "Audio Only" mode. This allows you to listen to any live or pre-recorded show while driving or doing anything else where viewing isn't possible (or recommended!).

The DISH Anywhere app delivers live TV, recorded TV and PrimeTime Anytime content and any mobile device via Sling technology on any device with a web connection. Some of the features include search, the ability to schedule recordings, and more.

The DISH Anywhere app also works with the iPhone and Android phones and tablets.
