Report: Infiniti Etherea-based Q30 will have three-way adjustable ride height, Infiniti retires Q45-successor plan

AutoCarUK was recently able to get the scoop on some details surrounding one of Infiniti’s future models, the Infiniti Q30. The Q30 is said to be a cross between the Audi A3 and Audi Q3 and based on the Etherea Concept showcased at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.

At the time, Infiniti described the car as a four-door coupe. But further down the line of time, Infiniti now says that it will basically be a crossover with an adjustable three-way ride height system, allowing the car to change from being a traditional four-door sedan, to a slightly raised crossover SUV. Nissan has reportedly enjoyed successful sales with its crossover offerings, the Qashqai and Juke, hence their decision to diversify the potential Q30.

These details come in after the outlet reportedly spoke with Infiniti’s brand chief, Andy Palmer, who also disclosed that Infiniti retired their plans to create a BMW 7-Series-like flagship saloon—one that would succeed Infiniti’s last flagship, the Q45.

“The 7-series market is declining, so we’re more likely to follow the trend to smaller vehicles,” Palmer added. “Before we can do that, however, we have to build our brand cachet in other areas.”
