LG Starts Shipping 55- and 65-inch Ultra HD 4K TVs

Hot on the heels of yesterday's Samsung announcement, LG Electronics has some big news -- regarding smaller Ultra HD TVs. The company says it has started selling 55- and 65-inch sets in the U.S.

Following in the footsteps of the 84-inch 84LM9600, LG says that the 55-inch 55LA9700 and 65-inch 65LA9700 are now available. Both sets made their debut at the Video & Audio Center in Southern California, at a VIP in-store event.

Each of the new models has a 3840-by-2150 resolution, which is four times the image of a 1080p HDTV. A few other key features include Nano Full LED backlighting, advanced In-Plane Switching (IPS) panels, and passive 3D technology. The line also boasts the Tru-Ultra HD Engine, which provides LG's own four-step upscaling process to enhance the detail of current HD and SD content.

It's also important to note that these sets have audio to match that image. LG has included a 4.1-channel sound system on each set, which is capable of producing 50 watts of sound from a forward-facing Sliding Speaker.

Each set also comes packing built-in WiFi and LG's Smart TV platform, as well as the company's Magic Remote for voice and gesture control.

"When we first unveiled our 84-inch Ultra HD TV at CES last year, the reception we received was phenomenal," said Havis Kwon, president and CEO of LG Electronics' Home Entertainment Company. "The Ultra HD TV format is here to stay and with the new sizes offering Nano Full LED backlighting and our proprietary Tru-Ultra HD Engine, these models are in a class of their own."

LG has priced the 55-inch 55LA9700 at $6,999, with the 65-inch 65LA9700 selling for $7,999. The 84-inch 84LM9600 is also available for $19,999. The company says it will soon start pushing the smaller sets in other overseas markets, including the UK, Russia and Australia.

Oppo RX17 Pro Review

Though similar to the OnePlus 6T the Oppo RX17 Pro is very different thanks to the software. Here’s our full review
Should I Buy The Oppo RX17 Pro?
The RX17 Pro is a great looking phone with good performance and a lush display. But with a Snapdragon 710 rather than the better 845 it’s just impossible not to compare it to the OnePlus 6T which looks the same, has better software for the western market and, importantly, costs less.
If you like the look of Oppo’s interface though then there’s a lot to like. The two colour options are premium as is the build quality and the cameras are above average if not great.

Should I Buy The Synology Mesh Router MR2200ac?
Synology could do a little more to explain the many features of the MR2200ac for first-time users, but the strong performance of this mesh system, and the fine-control provided by its web browser interface make it a good option for business users or home users who have a little more experience of networking technology.

Nokia 9 Release Date, Price & Spec Rumours

We've waited two years for the Nokia 9, and at the end of this month the company could finally put us out of our misery. Here's what we know about the Nokia 9 PureView, which could feature a penta-lens rear camera.
Nokia made its comeback to the Android market in January 2017 with the Nokia 6, and we've been waiting two years now for its long-rumoured flagship Nokia 9 to arrive. At MWC 2018 we thought that time was here, and then we got the the Nokia 8 Sirocco. But now the wait could really, really be over, as the Nokia 9 is tipped to land before the end of January 2019.
