Cashmere Cat - Princess Catgirl Music Album Reviews

The Norwegian producer invents a Vocaloid-inspired feline character and retreats from the spotlit pop of his last album, returning to the introspective hush of his earlier work.
After all these years, Cashmere Cat is still shy. The musician born Magnus August Høiberg has nearly a decade of prismatic productions under his belt, which has led to appearances on the big stages at EDM festivals, collaborations with childhood heroes, and studio time with the biggest pop stars in the world. On some level, Høiberg has had to adjust to the practicalities that this success requires. He once wouldn’t even do in-person interviews, but a few years ago he finally decided to open up about his life story in a music video. One would imagine he’s no longer hiding in a bathroom, as a friend of his once described, when DJ Khaled unexpectedly turns up at the studio.

Samsung Galaxy K Zoom review – an Android smartphone married to a 10x zoom camera

The concept of bolting a huge zoom lens to the back of a smartphone isn’t new. In fact, Samsung has already tried a couple of times in the past with the Galaxy Camera and Galaxy S4 Zoom. Both were bad products and were arguably the worst of both worlds instead of being the best. They were underpowered, and their cameras weren’t particularly good.

NEC M352WS review: projector is just the business for the office or classroom

Aimed at medium businesses and schools, NEC's new M352WS is a DLP projector that isn't your conventional looker. In fact, it more closely resembles a secret observatory, with its lens half-buried within that smooth exterior. See also Group test: what's the best projector?

TrendNet TEW-818DRU review: Affordable high performing 802.11ac router

The upright, book-like design of the TEW-818DRU –TrendNet's first 802.11ac router – is hardly inspiring. As with legions of other routers, it's no more than a plain, chunky plastic box. But its trump card isn’t its appearance, but the potential value for money it offers - it has an excellent specification and costs £120, a little less than many other 802.11ac routers. See Group test: what's the best wireless router?

Transformers: Age of Extinction Movie Review

It's safe to say movie-goers don't line up for Michael Bay films expecting Shakespeare. But somewhere in the middle of "Transformers: Age of Extinction" I was reminded of a line from Macbeth as the protagonist waxes poetic about life:
"It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."
Though I wouldn't go so far as to say that Michael Bay is an idiot (though he may have appeared that way at a certain Samsung press conference), this latest "Transformers" film isn't raising the intellectual bar for the director's work. There's a whole lot of sound and fury here: plenty of explosions, chase scenes and gunfire, as well as those cool transforming robots - now even Dino-bots! But ultimately, there's very little depth and really not a lot that's new here.
The decision to move forward without the human characters from the first three films (most notably, Shia LaBoeuf's Sam Witwicky) doesn't seem to ha…

XFX Radeon R7-265 2GB Core Edition review: graphics card offers good value for money, but not great on performance

The AMD Radeon R7-265 graphics card should be of keen interest to a more typical PC user – specifically for those gamers who don't need to sweat over gaining a few extra frames per second available from £300-plus graphics cards. The Grand Budapest Hotel Blu-ray Review

If you've seen anything by Wes Anderson, you already know that he has a certain style. The sets, the colors, the costumes, the music and even the dialogue is all distinctly Wes Anderson. Love him or hate him, there's certainly no one like him. And if you fall into the former camp, you will absolutely love his latest, The Grand Budapest Hotel.
That's because this is where everything and anything Wes Anderson comes to a head. It's the writer/director's most successful film to date, but also his most maniacal, most gruesome (those moments are brief, but certainly memorable), and possibly most entertaining. (Frankly, I could argue about that all day, being that Rushmore is one of my absolute favorites.)

Venus in Fur Movie Review

"Venus in Fur" was one of the true highlights of this year's Tribeca Film Festival. Roman Polanski's adaptation of Leopold von Sacher-Masoch's (the godfather of masochism) bawdy 19th century story crackles with sexuality and humor.
There are only two people in the cast and both are outstanding. Thomas (Mathieu Amalric) is a stage director about to head home for the evening. Casting has finally been completed and he is packing up. Through the door walks Vanda (Emmanuelle Seigner, Polanski's wife).
She is incredibly self-assured and demands to read for the lead of the play. Thomas is annoyed and tries to push her aside, but she is not the type who can be easily pushed around. She pushes back, and harder, but it's never in a threatening way. Vanda is powerful, though, and she is soon locked in a battle of wills with Thomas. Their battle melts into the actual play so that you are thrown back and forth between the script of the play and the interaction of our …
