Ferrari readying a new entry-level model with 500hp

Automobile Magazine reports that Ferrari is readying a new entry-level model that will sit at the bottom of the lineup, if that really means much. According to the report, the new model is destined to revive the original 456 nameplate, but it wouldn’t exactly fit Ferrari’s current nomenclature.

The new model will sport a twin-turbocharged 2.9L V6 good for 500hp and 440 lb-ft of torque, though it has yet to be confirmed.

Otherwise, Automobile also received details surrounding the automaker’s future plans, which include a twin-turbo update to the 458 Italia due in 2015–that will take on the name M458-T Italia while boasting 670hp. Next year, a 1,000hp+ LaFerrari FXX is also in the mix, limited to 30 units, as well as a Spider version. Expect that to fetch a price that’s twice as much as the hardtop version with only 50 made available.

A mid-cycle refresh for the FF is also on the docket for 2016, incorporating a power hike to 700hp with the choice of an optional twin-turbocharged V8. After that, a refreshed F12 is also said to be in the works with more power and revised styling for a 2017 year launch.
