Mr. Tophat - Dusk to Dawn Music Album Reviews

The Swedish producer and frequent Robyn collaborator offers an ambitious three-album suite of understated, occasionally disquieting techno nocturnes.
Hardcore Robyn fans already know the work of Swedish producer Rudolf Nordström, aka Mr. Tophat. He co-produced “Baby Forgive Me” and “Beach2k20,” two of the gorgeous, gently filtered house-pop tracks from last year’s Honey; his own 2017 release Trust Me, a three-song, 35-minute EP of throbbing, desaturated grooves, featured Robyn throughout. His latest solo release, Dusk to Dawn, is an ambitious three-album suite of understated, occasionally disquieting techno nocturnes. More melodic than the distortion-warped A Memoir From the Youth, two and a half hours of mostly chill, mid-tempo house conceal interesting moments within slack expanses. At its best, it’s a triple-album endurance listen that rewards partial concentration; at its slowest, it’s an illustration that Tophat’s signature long-format tracks don’t scale.

5G Smartphones Are Coming In 2019, Says Qualcomm

5G Smartphones Are Coming In 2019, Says Qualcomm
At its 4G/5G Summit in Hong Kong, Qualcomm has announced a successful 5G connection using its Snapdragon X50 modem alongside the first reference design smartphone. The firm also introduced the Snapdragon 636.

There’s been a lot of talk but 5G is finally real with Qualcomm managing the first successful trial of a 5G connection. The firm has delivered higher than gigabit speeds using the X50 modem, announced last year, over a 28Ghz mmWave frequency. The test peaked at 1.24Gbps and the modem can support up to 5Gbps.

The firm expects devices with the Snapdragon X50 modem to be available in the first half of 2019.

So we'll see smartphones and other devices with it presumably on shelves during 2019 and you get start getting your fill of 5G. That's earlier than Ofcom's prediction of 2020.

This means we’re one step closer to getting 5G and the test will “drive a new generation of cellular technology forward”. The firm said the move to 5G will be like getting electricity and with pave the way for unlimited data.

Not only will 5G be faster, but it will also be more reliable so you can do demanding tasks with your phone or other device without problems even in crowded places. Upgraded networks with more bandwidth could usher in a new era of 'unlimited data'.

Qualcomm also announced its first reference design smartphone that uses mmWave 5G, showcasing how the new technology will be made possible in the form factor. The modem might be small but fitting an antenna array for 5G isn't so easy.

“This major milestone and our 5G smartphone reference design showcase how Qualcomm Technologies is driving 5G NR in mobile devices to enhance mobile broadband experiences for consumers around the world," said Christiano Amon, president of Qualcomm Technologies.

Qualcomm’s test took place in San Diego using multiple 100Mz 5G carriers.

Nokia 4.2 Review

At £150, Nokia's budget handset has to be compared to the very best cheap phones. How does it stack up?
Should I Buy The Nokia 4.2?
The 4.2 has shown that Nokia can still produce good hardware, and combined with the slick user interface on Android One it provides an enjoyable user experience. This fully featured modern handset produces consistently solid performance, with above average cameras and impressive battery life.
However, it is let down by a low resolution screen, poor implementation of biometrics and some stubborn design choices.

Xbox Two release date rumours, design and more

Xbox Two release date rumours, design and more Microsoft’s Xbox One didn’t have the greatest launch – it was overpriced thanks to the ‘requirement’ of the Kinect (which has since been completely discontinued) and the requirement of an internet connection to function pushed many to Sony’s PS4. The console has improved substantially since launch, both in terms of features and pricing, and the introduction of the high-end Xbox One X has grabbed the interest of many.
