Detective Pikachu Movie Review

Is Detective Pikachu the very best, like no film ever was? We review the first ever live action Pokémon movie
Should I Buy the Detective Pikachu?
Detective Pikachu could have been a disaster, but instead it's really a bit of a delight. A game cast, robust world-building, and a sharp script combine to produce a film that should appeal equally to new fans and nostalgia-driven millennials.
It's a low bar to clear, but this is the best videogame movie yet - by some way.

Blizzcon 2018 Tickets, Dates And Rumours

Blizzcon 2018 gets underway on Friday 2 November with the opening keynote to happen on that very day.

With the confirmation of BlizzCon 2018 in November, Blizzard fans have started preparing. Fans of Overwatch, World of Warcraft, Heroes of the Storm and more eagerly await the event that’ll provide new information on their favourite games, and host championship finales for a range of Blizzard-developed games.

Here’s all we know about BlizzCon 2018, including when tickets are due to go on sale, location, schedule and more.

You can scoop up your virtual ticket for Blizzcon 2018 right here.

What can we expect from Blizzcon 2018?
Speculation around Blizzcon is always rampant the few weeks before the event and this year is business as usual with rumours and suggest ‘leaks’. With the recent expansion for World of Warcraft out of the way, Blizzcon this year will see a different IP take centre stage.

The three rumours hot topics for Blizzcon 2018 are suggested to be another Diablo game potentially Diablo 4 but job openings at Blizzard over the past few years have suggested that the next Diablo instalment could move past its ARPG staple into something more multiplayer focused.

World of Warcraft: Classic was announced at last year’s Blizzcon to roaring approval from the World of Warcraft community as a whole. The idea of travelling back to a time when World of Warcraft was a deeper, heavier and more immersive experience has many fans of the game extremely excited. If this will grab modern gamers attention remains to be seen, but it will be an interesting experiment if nothing else.

Finally, Blizzard appears to be making steps towards the mobile market – something they have dabbled in with support apps for their title, but never a stand alone game. Blizzard have a reputation for entering genres and perfecting experiences as they have done with World of Warcraft and Overwatch in recent years.

There is also rumour of an Overwatch expansion, but we’re scratching our heads a little at this as to what it may contain.

With World of Warcraft very much on a decline after more than 14 years as the most popular MMORPG in the world, and Blizzard’s rumoured MMO Titan being cancelled a few years ago – we’re wondering when or if Blizzard will focus their attention on a new MMO experience. Could that be Diablo 4? World of Diablo? World of Diablowatch? Time will tell.

What is BlizzCon?
So, what exactly is BlizzCon? It’s an annual weekend-long event where fans of popular Blizzard-developed games including World of Warcraft, Heroes of the Storm and Hearthstone come to watch popular eSporting heroes battle it out for cash prizes. Basically, it’s Blizzard’s own version of the European Championships, with serious prizes up for grabs.

Attendees will be able to cheer on their favourite teams and watch one of the most intense eSport gaming weekends in the gaming calendar. That’s not all either, as attendees also have the opportunity to join in with a number of activities and competitions over the course of the event, and will be amongst the first to find out all the latest Blizzard game news.

“BlizzCon is our favourite time of the year at Blizzard,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment. “It’s our chance to meet and really get to know the people behind the terran commanders, demon hunters, and Tracer mains we play with every day—to share our passion for games and eSports with each other, and celebrate what being in the Blizzard community is all about. We can’t wait to see everyone at the show.”

When and where is BlizzCon 2018 taking place?
So, where and when is this spectacular event taking place? Sadly, we’re still a way away from the actual show, but that hasn’t stopped Blizzard from building hype. Announced in April 2018, BlizzCon 2018 is set to take place in LA from 2 - 3 November 2018, though there’s also a run-up event that spans from 25 - 29 October 2018.

From 25 – 29 October 2018, fans can watch the initial rounds of not only the StarCraft II World Championship Series Finals, but also the Heroes of the Storm and World of Warcraft Finals at the Blizzard Arena in LA. Then, from 2-3 November, fans will be able to watch the finale of the aforementioned tournaments in Anaheim along with the Overwatch World Cup and Hearthstone Global Games. For a Blizzard fan, it’s set to be an exciting few days!

Can I buy BlizzCon 2018 tickets?
Now that BlizzCon 2018 is official, the launch of ticket sales shouldn’t be too far away, right? Correct; during the announcement of BlizzCon 2018, Blizzard confirmed that tickets are due to go on sale in May 2018.

More specficially, the gaming giant confirmed that there would be two ticket sales; the first will take place on Thursday 10 May 2018 from 3:00am BST, while the second is scheduled for two days later on Saturday 12 May 2018 from 6:00pm BST.

The tickets will be sold exclusively through online ticketing service Universe, and it’s worth noting that the $199 USD tickets only grant access to BlizzCon 2018 and not the BlizzCon Opening Week event. Those that do purchase a ticket will also receive a BlizzCon 2018 goody bag containing a bunch of Blizzard-themed goodies.

If you are interested in heading along and want to start planning the trip, you can make advance hotel reservations and receive discounted rates by going to the BlizzCon hotel website.

Those interested in going along to BlizzCon Opening Week can do so for the first time ever, though the tickets are limited and won’t be sold until later this year (date is yet to be confirmed). We’ll update this section once details are announced.

Can I watch the BlizzCon 2018 livestream from home?
But what about those of us that don’t want to pay $199 and plan a trip to the US? Thankfully, gamers around the world who can’t attend the event in person will be able to watch all the latest BlizzCon gossip unfold via the exclusive BlizzCon 2018 livestream. The catch? Much like with BlizzCon 2017, Blizzard’s livestream isn’t free to fans; you have to buy a Virtual Ticket to be able to watch.

Though pricing is yet to be announced for 2018, Blizzard charged £24.99 for a Virtual Ticket in 2017, so we imagine it’ll set you back a similar amount this year. If you think it’s too much money just to watch a livestream, maybe the inclusion of exclusive in-game content will be enough to sway you. Blizzard is set to announce details of the Virtual Ticket in the coming months, and we’ll be sure to update this section as soon as we receive additional information.

Should I buy the Nokia 7.1?
The Nokia 7.1 is a familiar mid-range phone for the end of 2018: a notch, big bottom chin and dual cameras. But these cameras are pretty good, and the display is lovely. Its build quality is above average though, and with Android One on board and decent performance it’s an excellent mid-range phone with the advantage of three years of guaranteed security updates.
