Simplisafe Wireless Home Security Review

Simple to install and very easy to use, Simplisafe is a great home alarm system which is monitored by a security firm that can call out the police on your behalf.
Should I Buy The Simplisafe Wireless Home Security System?
The Simplisafe system couldn’t be easier to self-install, but it does require a monthly subscription which could put some people off. We’d like the option of an external siren, but other than that, it’s a comprehensive smart security system.

Huawei P30 Pro Release Date, Price & Specs Rumours

We already know the Huawei P30 exists and here we round up the rumours about when it will be announced and which features and specs it will have.

Huawei has two flagship phones, the Mate 20 Pro and the P20 Pro. The ‘P’ and Mate ranges are supposedly aimed at different audiences, but the fact is, the company releases a new flagship every six months.

We’ve recently been wowed by the features in the Mate 20 Pro, but there’s already talk of the P20 Pro’s successor. At IFA 2018 Huawei’s CEO confirmed that the P30 exists saying that, “the Mate 20 will be even better [than the P20 Pro], and next year the P30 will be better again.”

When Is The P30 Pro Release Date?
Expected launch: March 2019
Going by recent years, Huawei announces the new ‘P’ model in February or March. It may not be announced at MWC in Barcelona since earlier this year Huawei held its own launch event for the phone at the end of March in Paris.

It’s likely to do something similar in 2019.

How Much Will The P30 Pro Cost?
Again, the recent trend is for price hikes so we wouldn’t be at all surprised if the P30 Pro costs even more than the £899 Mate 20 Pro.

However, the P20 Pro costs £799, so it’s possible that its successor won’t be too much more expensive.

Really, it’s too early to know, so you’ll have to wait until the launch to find out for sure.

Naturally, there will be a Lite and standard version of the phone (simply ‘P30’) as well as the Pro model.

What Specs And Features Will The P30 Pro Have?
A couple of things are certain. For one, it will use the Kirin 980 processor. Huawei or, more specifically, HiSilicon, won’t launch an updated model in time for the P30 Pro’s launch, so just as the P20 Pro got the Kirin 970 after the Mate 10 Pro, the P30 Pro will use the 980 from the Mate 20 Pro.

That means any new features will be limited to the same processing power on offer in the Mate 20 Pro, but Huawei will improve the cameras somehow, as the P-series is all about photography.

New renders from case maker Olixar (shown below) reveal a quad-camera at the rear of the Huawei P30 Pro, and three lenses on the back of the standard model. Admittedly the images look a little odd and are bizarrely square, but they also reveal a waterdrop-style screen notch, unlike the 'punch-hole' design rumoured for other upcoming Huawei phones such as the Nova 4.
We expect the P30 Pro to ‘borrow’ some features from the Mate 20 Pro such as the curved screen, the 3D face-scanning camera and possibly the in-screen fingerprint reader.

But almost everything else is up in the air.

Here are the main specs and features we expect the P30 Pro to have:
  • Android 9 Pie
  • EMUI 9
  • Kirin 980 processor
  • Expandable storage via Huawei Nano Memory Card
  • 6- or 8GB RAM
  • Improved cameras vs Mate 20 Pro
  • 3D front camera system
  • No headphone jack
  • IP68 waterproofing
  • OLED screen
As and when more information surfaces, we'll update this article.

WD My Cloud Mirror 4TB Review

If you’re looking for a home storage solution but can’t be bothered sourcing and installing your own disks then the WD My Cloud Mirror is an attractive option at a good price. WD My Cloud Mirror 4TB review.
Should I Buy The WD My Cloud Mirror 4TB?
When it comes to ease of use the WE My Cloud Mirror is hard to beat. Initial setup is very easy and even sorting our remote access is simple too. For sharing music, movies, photos and documents it works a treat and performance is fine. The downside is that you don’t get the huge range of apps that are available for other brands. However, if you prioritise ease of set up and ease of use the WD is worth looking at and with 4 TB of storage included for the price, it’s a great value option.

Huawei P30 Lite Review

A cheaper version of Huawei's flagship P30 phones is tempting and while the P30 Lite has good style and cameras, it falls down in other areas and has tough competition. Find our why in our full review.
Should I Buy The Huawei P30 Lite?
The P30 Lite is an attractive phone with decent cameras at an affordable price.
However, it falls down in other areas which are important. Most notably performance and battery life.

Drobo 5N2 Review

Drobo's latest NAS starts with the assumption that everyone who buys a NAS box doesn’t start with a full complement of identical hard drives. Here's our Drobo 5N2 review.
Should I buy the Drobo 5N2?
It might be relatively expensive, but the flexible RAID system that can handle multiple drives of different size could be a major cost saving for many users. The performance, build quality and expanding app selection also makes the Drobo 5N2 a highly desirable solution.

Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 (7390) Review: Hands-on

The redesigned XPS 13 2-in-1 is finally good enough to really rival Dell's traditional laptops - find out what we thought when it launched at Computex 2019.
Should I Buy The Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 (7390)?
We won't know just how well the new 10nm Intel chips perform until we get the XPS 13 2-in-1 into the office for a proper review, but on paper this looks like a very capable machine. Strong specs combined with the best of Dell's already strong XPS design language mean that not only does this look like a good convertible, it might even dethrone its clamshell cousin from the top of the laptop world.
