Hidden24 Review

Created as a reaction to Swedish snooping laws, Hidden24's host-based VPN isn't for everyone, but it will grant ex-pats access to BBC iPlayer.

Should I Buy Hidden24?
A serious VPN solution designed for people who need to communicate anonymously. In addition to top-notch security, it'll also allow you to unblock streaming services such as Netflix US and BBC iPlayer from abroad.

Price When Reviewed
  • $5.99 per month
If you're looking for a VPN that focuses on anonymity and privacy whilst online, Hidden24 could be just it. Read on for our Hidden24 VPN review (to find out more about how a VPN can benefit you, visit: What is a VPN?)

Created by a group of Swedish journalists in 2005 in response to their country's snooping laws, Hidden24 tunnels your traffic to its own UK-based server farm.

Hidden24 uses the operating system's own VPN capability, so it will work on any device (Android, Mac, iPhone or Linux) that has a built-in VPN client.

It does mean that it's not as simple as downloading an app and clicking connect, but detailed, graphical setup guides are available for all common platforms, but all are as simple as clicking a few buttons and entering your credentials.

In Windows, the VPN appears above the list of wifi networks in the toolbar. Click it and the VPN configuration window appears. Click the VPN connection and click Connect. That's all there is to it.
The downside of using the operating system's own VPN is that you only have the options available to that platform. This means no kill switch to drop connections or kill applications if the VPN tunnel collapses. In testing, the service was stable and fast, however.

Hidden24 now has servers in the UK and US, so if you're looking to watch Netflix US shows in the UK or BBC iPlayer from abroad, you'll find Hidden24 useful (check out our best VPN round-up for alternatives)

We had an initial problem changing our account password, and Support was very helpful indeed, though lodging a support ticket with them on a Friday afternoon is probably why the response was delayed until the following Monday.

We were also told by the company that many other VPN services can offer access points in so many countries because they simply rent cloud services, which are obviously not completely under the control of the provider.

Hidden24 has been built from the ground up to be 100% owned, operated and controlled by Hidden24. The service itself operates from 9 UK data centres, each with an operator class internet connection.

Though head office is in Sweden, which is in the group of "14-eyes" countries, Hidden24 claims that they "do not log anything". It also doesn't keep a log of its customers beyond email address and credit card number.

As well as the £4.99 1-month option, and 12-month option for £47.88/year (£3.99 per month), there's also a recurring 3-month option for £13.47. There's an exclusive deal available that'll get you the first three months for just £3.33, too. You can take advantage of that deal here.

This puts it on a par with CyberGhost, but the terms and conditions state that while you can cancel at any time, there are no refunds for the remaining time for your subscription.

The only payment option for Hidden24 seems to be credit cards. No PayPal, Bitcoin or other options are listed on the website. This is bound to upset those looking for 100% anonymity.

Amazon Lord Of The Rings TV Show Latest News

Amazon's Lord of the Rings TV series has been quiet on the news front for the past few months but we're starting to some details emerge for the highly anticipated show.
For most of the past decade, TV producers have been desperate to find ‘the next Game of Thrones’, and now Amazon apparently reckons it’s found it: Lord of the Rings.

Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) Review

A mid-range phone with triple rear cameras is a rare thing, especially at under £300 but the Galaxy A7 isn't an instant winner. Find out why in our full review.
Should I Buy The Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018)? The Galaxy A7 is a decent choice for a mid-range phone if you're looking to spend less than £300. Highlights include an excellent screen, nice design and cameras you'd wouldn't expect to find.
However, unless you're going to use the wide-angle lens a lot there are some strong rivals out there like the Moto G7 Plus and Honor Play.

Huawei Mate 20 X Review

The Huawei Mate 20 X is an obscenely large smartphone but it has many of the features of the Mate 20 Pro for less. Here’s our full review of the huge premium slab
Should I Buy The Huawei Mate 20 X?
With a bigger screen, bigger battery and smaller notch than the Mate 20 Pro, the Huawei Mate 20 X also has the same camera set up and adds a headphone jack. If you want the most screen possible, it might be for you.
You lose the curved display, wireless charging, full water resistance and secure Face ID but for many that won’t matter if a huge display, outstanding camera and great performance are top of your list. If you want a normal size phone, get the Mate 20 Pro.

Samsung Galaxy S9 vs Samsung Galaxy S10e

Samsung's Galaxy S range has been updated and here we compare the S10e - the new 'lite' model - to last years' Galaxy S9 to help you decide which phone is best for you.
Should I Buy The Samsung Galaxy S10e Or Samsung Galaxy S9?
The S10e could be the sleeper hit of this year. It doesn’t have the embedded fingerprint sensor of the S10 and S10 Plus or their triple cameras, but it comes with the same processors, new screen design, ultra-wide camera, and all in a compact and comfortable format with a smaller price-tag.
That being said, the S9 is still an excellent device, and its new, lower price makes it a definite bargain.

iHealth Core Review

This smart scale from iHealth offers detailed body composition measurements, from BMI to visceral fat rating. Find out what we think in our iHealth Core review.
Should I Buy The iHealth Core? We like the way that the Core and Lite scales interact with the other iHealth products, and the Core offers a bunch of useful metrics with which to monitor your health. Setup is easy and the app's graphs give a decent visual representation of your health-metric trends as you progress.
