LG G8 ThinQ Release Date, Price & Spec Rumours

What to expect from LG's next flagship phone and when - here's everything we know about the LG G8 ThinQ launch date, specifications and anticipated price.

In previous years LG has always favoured the MWC tradeshow for its flagship phone launch, which is traditionally held in late February/early March. However, in 2018 the LG G7 ThinQ (pictured) was held back until May, and a general lack of whispers on the web suggests the same could be true in 2019.

Traditionally a true rival to Samsung's Galaxy S-series flagship, the gap has widened in recent years. But LG is still one of the best smartphone makers in the world, and we're excited to see what its 2019 G8 ThinQ has in store.

When Is The LG G8 ThinQ Release Date?
The G8 launch date has not been confirmed, but based on last year's pattern it could appear as late as May 2019.

ETNews suggests LG will announce a 5G phone at MWC in February, but that it won't be the LG G8 ThinQ - the company is reportedly still discussing branding.

The G8 is thought to be a 4G LTE-only handset, which ETNews says will arrive later in March 2019.

How Much Will The LG G8 ThinQ Cost?
With nothing to suggest otherwise, we suspect pricing will be in line with the outgoing flagship: expect the G8 to cost in the region of £600.

What Are The Rumoured Features And Specifications For The LG G8 ThinQ?
In common with other 2019 flagships the G8 will almost certainly carry the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, which is the successor to the Snapdragon 845 seen in the G7.

This chip is significantly faster than the 845, and it also supports 5G connectivity. However, it's unlikely that the G8 will itself support 5G connectivity, since this will add to the overall cost. LG is expected to announce a different smartphone in early 2019 as its first 5G phone.

A feature recently tipped for the new LG phone is Sound On Display, which uses bone conduction and vibration to emit sound and would enable LG to lose the front speaker and free up more room for the screen. It's a technology Samsung is also reportedly working on, though it would appear LG could beat it to the punch. Without an earpiece we could see a new design that sees LG drop the screen notch.

The display could also be upgraded to feature a 4K resolution, according to Ice Universe, though this is another feature that adds cost without adding significant value. LG could keep down costs here by using LCD rather than AMOLED, which is a shame as we'd rather see a lower-resolution AMOLED screen.

It's also said to come with a triple-lens rear camera, though the exact specifications have not yet been detailed.

Dell XPS 13 9380 (2019) Review

Dell's flagship laptop returns to us in 2019 with refreshed specs, a brand new webcam design and a cheaper model. We review the XPS 13 9380 in full.
Should I Buy The Dell XPS 13 (2019)?
The XPS 13 for 2019 ticks all the boxes. It looks great, the build quality is excellent, it’s nice and portable and has a wide range of specs to choose from.
While not a massive upgrade from last year's model, it’s had some solid refinement including getting the webcam back into the top bezel and also introduces a more affordable Core i3 edition.

Huawei P30 Pro Release Date, Price & Specs Rumours

Huawei's MWC press conference didn't include an announcement of the P30 range. Instead, it will hold a launch event in Paris at the end of March. We round up rumours, speculation and more on the new Huawei line-up, including the expected P30 release date, price and specifications.

Huawei Mate 20 X Review

The Huawei Mate 20 X is an obscenely large smartphone but it has many of the features of the Mate 20 Pro for less. Here’s our full review of the huge premium slab
Should I Buy The Huawei Mate 20 X?
With a bigger screen, bigger battery and smaller notch than the Mate 20 Pro, the Huawei Mate 20 X also has the same camera set up and adds a headphone jack. If you want the most screen possible, it might be for you.
You lose the curved display, wireless charging, full water resistance and secure Face ID but for many that won’t matter if a huge display, outstanding camera and great performance are top of your list. If you want a normal size phone, get the Mate 20 Pro.

Samsung Galaxy S9 vs Samsung Galaxy S10e

Samsung's Galaxy S range has been updated and here we compare the S10e - the new 'lite' model - to last years' Galaxy S9 to help you decide which phone is best for you.
Should I Buy The Samsung Galaxy S10e Or Samsung Galaxy S9?
The S10e could be the sleeper hit of this year. It doesn’t have the embedded fingerprint sensor of the S10 and S10 Plus or their triple cameras, but it comes with the same processors, new screen design, ultra-wide camera, and all in a compact and comfortable format with a smaller price-tag.
That being said, the S9 is still an excellent device, and its new, lower price makes it a definite bargain.
