Felt - Forever Breathes the Lonely Word Music Album Reviews

Each Sunday, Pitchfork takes an in-depth look at a significant album from the past, and any record not in our archives is eligible. Today, we revisit the misanthropic pop perfection of the indie British band’s sixth and best album.
In November 1986, a writer for NME visited the flat of indie-pop enigma Lawrence. The mononymous musician lived in a quiet suburb outside of Birmingham, England, alone except for a collection of records, a set of first edition Kerouac paperbacks, and enough cleaning products to stock a small hospital ward. “A platoon of Airwick Solids stoically occupy strategic vantage points; the toilet bowl harbors not the usual one, but a breeding pair of those Cartland-pink santisers; a wicker basket provides a mass grave for spent aerosol air fresheners.” Since he rarely left the antiseptic apartment, Lawrence explained that his days were typically spent wasting time with mundane activities, like assiduously washing his floppy brown hair.

Nokia 9 PureView Release Date, Price & Specification Rumours

Nokia's long-awaited 9 PureView might arrive in January. We outline the rumours on the flagship's launch date, price and specifications.

When the Nokia 8 Sirocco arrived in February at MWC we told you it was the Nokia 9 we'd been waiting for. And it was, sort of. We also pointed out that it was running a 2017 Snapdragon 835 processor rather than the 2018 Snapdragon 845, and we've since learned this is because - obviously - the Nokia 8 Sirocco was the 'Nokia 9 2017' and the Nokia 9 2018 is yet to come.

It turns out the Nokia 9 is actually the Nokia 9 PureView, according to Roland Quandt, after HMD recently acquired the trademark. In the past PureView cameras have had very high megapixel counts. This doesn't mean the Nokia 9 will also pile on the pixels, but we should certainly be looking at a decent camera setup.

When Is The Nokia 9 Release Date?
Despite rumours of a luanch in 2018 from the likes of Nokia Power User, that didn't happen. An event on 4 October was for the Nokia 7.1 instead.

So the wait for the Nokia 9 PureView goes on but it will apparently arrive at the end of January according to Nokia Anew (translated). The site says an event will take place in the last week of the month, placing it oddly between CES and MWC.

How Much Will The Nokia 9 Cost?
It's common sense to assume the flagship Nokia 9 will cost more than the Nokia 8 Sirocco, which costs £649. With this in mind we'd expect the Nokia 9 to be priced around £700-£750.

What Are The Rumoured Features And Specifications For The Nokia 9?
The most exciting rumour we've heard about the upcoming Nokia 9 is that it will feature an in-display fingerprint scanner, which is of course the tech we are hoping to see in the Galaxy S10 and OnePlus 6T. If Nokia can get out ahead of its rivals with that tech it could be garnering column inches for all the right reasons.

Nokia Power User claims this rumour has been confirmed by one of its trusted sources in China, but that this source also says the Nokia 9 could sport a screen notch in order to maximise screen area.

Other specification rumours include a Snapdragon 845 processor, up to 8GB of RAM, a Zeiss 22Mp dual-lens camera and a larger 5.7in Quad-HD+ POLED screen.

We'd expect it to feature the same high-end tech as the Nokia 8 Sirocco, which means you can also look forward to Qi wireless charging and IP67 waterproofing. There's no headphone jack on that phone, so expect to rely on USB-C for audio here, too.

We'll bring you more Nokia 9 rumours as we hear them.

Huawei MateBook 14 Review

The MateBook 14 is one of Huawei's new laptops for 2019 and is the perfect all-rounder. Find out why in our full review.
Should I Buy The Huawei MateBook 14?
The MateBook 14 might be a slightly chunkier and heavier version of the flagship X Pro, but the weight is a small price to pay considering that this laptop is a much cheaper option.
What you lose (or gain, really) in weight, is made up for by additional ports, better performance and longer battery life. You only really need to pass on this if Thunderbolt is an absolute must.

Xiaomi M365 Electric Scooter Review

We test Xiaomi's electric scooter, which will keep the big kids entertained for hours. It's now officially available in the UK, too, which makes it even more appealing.
Should I Buy The Xiaomi Electric Scooter?
The Xiaomi Electric Scooter is expensive and not allowed on UK roads out the box, but if you have somewhere to take it this toy is an awful lot of fun. It's fast, smooth and almost entirely silent, with a battery that just keeps on going and decent brakes that stop you quickly but safely. This scooter is best reserved for the big kids, but that's no bad thing.
