Kobo Aura H2O Review

The Kobo Aura H2O is a high-end eReader with an advantage over Amazon's Kindles. Here's our full review...
Should I Buy The Kobo Aura H2O?
There are a few disadvantages to the Aura H2O that are important to note, such as processing power and unresponsive interface. Processing is quite slow and menus, settings and controls take a bit longer to display.
You can also see faint after-effects of previous images, pages or texts when you flip to the next page, though this is also common in Kindles
Overall, what sets the Kobo Aura H2O apart from its competitors is its water resistance. This device is the only one of its kind to be able to withstand 1m of water for 30 minutes.
The waterproof feature does, however, come with a cost - literally. At £149.99 it is £40 more than the Kindle Paperwhite, which can’t take a dip but is less expensive and more responsive than the Aura.
If you’re sold by the waterproof feature and willing to invest a tad more, then the Aura H2O is a solid competitor to …

How To Connect Chromecast To Google Home

Google's smart home devices ties into each other, meaning you can use Google Home as your Chromecast remote. But how do you connect Chromecast to Google Home?

If you've come to this article looking for advice on using Chromecast with Google Home, we're going to make one of two assumptions. Either you haven't tried to set up the two together yet, or you're not quite sure what instructions to give Google Home. (Also see our full Google Home review)

The reason we say this is that you don't have to do anything special to actually connect Google Home to Chromecast. Both devices are individually configured and managed through the free Google Home app (available from the App Store or Google Play), which is itself linked to your Google account. You simply give Google Home instructions as to what to do with Chromecast.

How To Use Chromecast With Google Home
To stream content from Chromecast to your TV using Google Home you simply need to know which command to use. And it's actually rather simple:

"Okay Google, cast [content name] to [Chromecast name]."

Google can serve up any content from YouTube provided you know the name of the video, or you can ask it for something less specific such as 'funny videos'. In this case the command would be "Okay Google, cast funny videos to [Chromecast name]."

If you ask it for a music video and have a Google Play Music account then you will have to specifically ask it to cast the video rather than the song if you want it to stream from YouTube rather than Google Play Music. So, say "Okay Google, cast [song name] video to [Chromecast name]" to get the YouTube stream, and "Okay Google, cast [song name] to [Chromecast name]" to get the Play Music stream.

There are various controls you can use while the content is streaming. Try any of the following:

"Okay Google, pause on [Chromecast name]."

"Okay Google, resume on [Chromecast name]."

"Okay Google, skip on [Chromecast name]."

"Okay Google, stop on [Chromecast name]."

"Okay Google, rewind [time] on [Chromecast name]."

"Okay Google, subtitles on" or "Okay Google, subtitles off."

Google Home can also stream content from video apps such as Netflix, provided you have an account, though you'll need to link it to your Google Home first. Open the Google Home app, tap the three lines icon at the top left and select More settings.

Scroll down to and tap Videos and Photos, and you should see Netflix under videos. Tap the blue Link button to connect it to Google Home.

You can then use the following commands with Google Home:

"Okay Google, watch [film/TV show name] from Netflix on [Chromecast name]."

"Okay Google, next episode on [Chromecast name]."

"Okay Google, previous episode on [Chromecast name]."

"Okay Google, pause on [Chromecast name]."

"Okay Google, resume on [Chromecast name]."

"Okay Google, stop on [Chromecast name]."

"Okay Google, rewind [time] on [Chromecast name]."

Should I buy the Nokia 7.1?
The Nokia 7.1 is a familiar mid-range phone for the end of 2018: a notch, big bottom chin and dual cameras. But these cameras are pretty good, and the display is lovely. Its build quality is above average though, and with Android One on board and decent performance it’s an excellent mid-range phone with the advantage of three years of guaranteed security updates.
