Google I/O 2020 Confirmed For 12 May

Google has revealed the dates of its annual developer conference, and when we'll get our first in-depth look at Android 11 new features.

It's become something of a game to guess when Google will hold its annual developer conference, and 2020 is no different with Google asking those who want to know to take part in 'A Collaboration of the Cosmos'.

It asks: "Earlier, the intergalactic satellite network powering this signal board was down. It has since been restored, but we still need your help to maintain the network. Can we count on you?"

Through teamwork the mission was accomplished, and with the signal strength now at 100% we can see that Google I/O 2020 will take place on 12-14 May.

Once again the event will be held at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California, with three days of developer conferences kicking off with a keynote from Sundar Pichai. This is where most will want to pay attention, and in 2019 it was during this keynote that we were treated to announcements concerning Android 10 and the Pixel 3a.

A Pixel 4a is rumoured to be on its way, potentially alongside XL and 5G variants, with the latter particularly interesting as a potentially affordable 5G phone.

We're also waiting patiently to hear about Android 11, the next version of Google's mobile operating system, though we may be treated to a developer beta as early as the Spring. The final consumer release will come later in the year, likely August or September.
