Samsung Galaxy Buds+ Release Date, Price And Specs Rumours

The Galaxy Buds+ are coming soon but appear to be missing a key feature.

Samsung’s true wireless earbuds are due a refresh so we investigate the Galaxy Buds+, which might be here before you know it. However, can they take on the Apple AirPods Pro? Leaks suggest not.

Galaxy Buds+ release date
It’s thought that the new Galaxy Buds+, name via evleaks, will arrive alongside the Galaxy S11 (or Galaxy S20 if Samsung changes the naming system) smartphone.

The original Galaxy Buds were announced at the Galaxy S10 launch so it would make sense for this to happen again this year.

Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked event is set for 11 February so there’s not long to wait.

Galaxy Buds+ specs and features
We’re keen for a new pair of wireless earbuds from Samsung, but it seems they might be missing a key feature. To keep up with the AirPods Pro they need to have active noise cancelling, but Iceuniverse suggests this won’t be the case.

Instead, the Buds+ (model number SM-R175, according to SamMobile) will bring general improvements such as better sound quality, longer battery life and faster charging.

Those aren’t issues we had with the original Buds so it seems like these may well be an upgraded version rather than something properly new. These are not the Galaxy Buds 2, it seems.

Galaxy Buds+ price
Unless the leaks are wrong, Samsung will likely be undercutting rivals like the AirPods Pro due to the lack of noise cancelling.

The Galaxy Buds were £139/$129 so we expect the price to be similar if the upgrades aren’t major this year.
